The Imani Center is committed to being part of the solution
Our goal is to empower and equip those experiencing housing and food insecurities with resources needed to transform their lives. Our current outreaches focus on providing essentials such as hygiene, items needed to keep warm during the cold winter months, and an occasional meal.
Blessing Box Project
The Blessing Box Project is an initiative aimed at addressing food insecurity within our city. Blessing Boxes are in public places throughout Columbus. Blessing Boxes allow community members to donate nonperishable food items, baby supplies, hygiene products, pet food and other items that would be a blessing to our neighbors in need. The principle is simple, take what you need and leave what you can. The Imani Center is honored to host one of these Blessing Boxes.
Available 24 hours, 7 days a week. Located at 859 Windmiller Drive in Pickerington, Ohio |
Thrive Kits
Our Thrive Kit Program focuses on serving the homeless and those experiencing housing insecurity by providing kits with essential items like hygiene, first aid, blankets, diapers, and items to keep warm during the winter months. We believe our Thrive Kits contribute to health and well-being while promoting dignity and self-esteem, allowing individuals to thrive. Without access to proper hygiene facilities, homeless individuals are at a higher risk of infection and other health issues. Being able to clean oneself can boost morale and confidence, which are vital for seeking employment, housing, and social integration. Outreach locations and times Every Saturday 9:30 - 10:30 am 946 Parsons Ave Columbus, Ohio First & third Saturday 2:30 - 4:00 pm 165 Cypress Ave Columbus, Ohio |
Meal Program
Our meal program provides a weekly meal for the homeless or those in need at one of our partner locations. While daily food distribution may not always be feasible due to resource constraints or logistical challenges, a weekly schedule allows us to provide consistent support and alleviate hunger on a predictable basis. This predictability enhances trust and engagement with the homeless community, creating opportunities for deeper connections and ongoing support beyond just meeting immediate needs.
